Sam Yount

Lead Pastor

Ministry Background

Pastor Sam faithfully served as Associate Pastor at Yelm Living Water Church, investing in teaching, pastoral care, and leadership development. His journey in ministry also includes fourteen years at Crossroads Community Church, where his calling was first shaped and refined.

Through deep mentorship with Pastor Mike Siegemund and Pastor Bob Horn, and preparation at Living Water’s Olympia and Yelm campuses, Pastor Sam’s heart for outreach and discipleship flourished. These years of faithful service prepared him for the calling he now walks in—leading The Well.

Community Service

Before stepping fully into vocational ministry, Pastor Sam dedicated 42 years to the fire service in Pierce County, retiring as EMS Chief. His career was marked by courage, compassion, and a deep commitment to protecting and serving the community. This foundation of service continues to shape his pastoral ministry today.

The Calling to Rainier

In a moment of profound spiritual clarity, Pastor Sam heard God’s unmistakable call: “You are the one who will be sent to pastor this church.” With the confirmation of “For such a time as this” from Esther 4:14, Pastor Sam stepped out in faith to plant The Well in Rainier.

Vision for The Well

Pastor Sam’s vision is to create a place of family, clarity, unity, healing, and deliverance—where people are welcomed, known, and empowered to grow in faith and live out the hope of Christ. His prayer is that The Well will be a place where people encounter the Living Water of Jesus Christ, find belonging, and are sent out to transform the world.

Serves faithfully on our Church Council, offering steady leadership, thoughtful insight, and a genuine heart for the church family. He is known for his humility, his willingness to listen, and his desire to help the church grow in unity and strength.

Jim Baker

Jim serves faithfully on our Church Council, bringing with him a lifetime of dedication to both the Church and the Rainier community. His steady leadership, servant’s heart, and deep commitment to seeing God’s people thrive make him a trusted voice in our fellowship. Jim’s years of service reflect a quiet strength and a genuine love for others, and we are grateful for the wisdom and stability he brings to our church family.

Jetta Watkins

Youth Director

Born and raised in Rainier and a proud graduate of Rainier High School, Jetta carries a relentless passion for the youth of her hometown. Her heart beats for seeing young people discover their identity, purpose, and confidence in Jesus. Jetta’s deep love for this community and her commitment to the next generation shine through everything she does, and we’re excited to see how God uses her to help the youth of Rainier grow in faith and strength.

Mike Henzel

Connections Director

Mike serves as our Connections and Usher Director, helping create an atmosphere where people feel welcomed the moment they arrive. He leads with a calm, friendly presence and a genuine desire to make sure everyone feels seen and supported. His commitment to hospitality strengthens the way our church

Exicutive Director

Cassie Tost serves on our Church Council with a warm, steady presence and a genuine heart for people. She brings encouragement, thoughtfulness, and a welcoming spirit that helps our church feel like family. Cassie’s kindness and integrity shine in everything she does, both in the church and in everyday life. She carries herself with a quiet strength that lifts others up, offering encouragement, presence, and genuine care wherever she goes. Our church is better, warmer, and more connected because of the way Cassie shows up with heart, humility, and a deep love for people.

Sylvia Henzel

Finance and Missions Director and Church Council

Sylvia serves on our Church Council and leads our Missions efforts with a compassionate heart and a steady, prayerful spirit. As our Missions Director, she helps our church stay outward‑focused, building bridges of hope and support both locally and globally. Her passion for missions strengthens the way our church reaches beyond its walls with purpose and love. She also oversees our finances with integrity and care, ensuring that every resource is stewarded wisely for the good of our church and community.

Media Director

Samathan serves as our Media Director, bringing creativity and excellence to everything she does. She oversees our social media with a warm, thoughtful approach that helps our church stay connected and encouraged throughout the week.

Jessica serves as our Children’s Director with a warm heart, steady leadership, and a genuine love for kids and families.
